If you feel up to it, I strongly recommend installing amarok from source. There are lots of things that don't work in the kubuntu version, one thing being automatic tagging. It's really not so hard to install from source, especially if you've already installed it via the package as most of the dependencies will already be met.

Both have their pros and cons so make sure you check out both before applying the instructions. I have Ubuntu 6.06 installed on my Acer 1682WLMI laptop. My LAN includes a server machine running FC4, with several shares mounted with Samba. Yesterday, I upgraded the packages on the FC4 machine, and these included Samba, which is now at 3.0.23a. Unfortunately, this seems to have broken my mounted shares, which is annoying as I'd only just got them working a couple of days ago.

I can't seem to play any type of embedded video in Firefox anymore. Example: if I try to play a video through BBC News Player, MPlayer plug-in begins buffering the video and then stops without playing anything. Same behaviour appears when attempting to playback any type of embedded video in Firefox. The behaviour doesn't appear to be type or site specific. This didn't always happen. I first noticed the behaviour after I removed totem-xine and replaced it with totem-gstreamer. (I did this because totem-xine wouldn't playback video smoothly from a shared networked drive, but totem-gstreamer would.)

Does anyone have a decent technique for downloading and watching video podcasts? iTunes made it so easy and I've not found a viable substitute for Ubuntu yet. Specifically, I want to be able to download a video version of diggnation each week. I want the program to download the new podcast to a specified folder and allow me to play the podcast without having to manually open another player. I can handle it if the program opens another media player to play the podcast. Seriously, is there a program that will do all this? Or do I have to hop on board some project to make it a reality?

Finally, I strongly encourage others to contribute their ideas and I will add more ideas if they occur to me. Perhaps if there is enough demand, we can make a wiki (again if doesn't exist already)
