- save .ram/.rm (real media stuff) file to hard disk, how?
leahcim first two comments were really useful. "To save a Real Media file you simply do this. If it a .Ram file, save it.Right click and save as to desktop. It will be small. After it is saved to your desktop, open the .Ram file with NOTEPAD." and " If I do that I'll get addresses with rtsp:// or pnm://. How do I save them? I can't just right click on them??? Yes.... you have to save the link in to a web page in order for you to right click on it and choose the option "save target as" finally "it did not work when I copied either of the address’s thats when i downloaded Offline Explorer Pro"

- 'Linneighborhood' and Samba shares in XFCE with thunar - Ubuntu Forums
An SMB network browser for Linux and X11. This package allows users to browse SMB (e.g. Windows Network Neighborhood) networks under X, and mount/unmount SMB shared filesystems via a graphical interface. It is somewhat more network-efficient that other similar tools because it uses the proper protocol for identifying network shares rather than simply scanning IP address ranges. In order for LinNeighborhood to work properly, you must have the smbfs filesystem compiled into your kernel and have a working Samba setup.

Candy Labs began its life in the cold, dry winter of 2002 when Marek Sliwa and Dustin Mierau decided to join forces and produce software that is intuitive, useful, and just plain sexy. Both well seasoned in software development and design: Marek Sliwa is a leading software developer and a student of the sciences and mathematics at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Dustin Mierau is a student of the arts, and spent two and a half years previously working at Napster as a developer of the Macintosh client (a.k.a. Macster).

- Collection Scanner Unable To Process Certain mounted SMB share files
Hey, I just moved my music files over to another pc on the network, and set up a samba share and mounted it. I wanted amarok to be able to play these files. I add them to the collection and that's fine, but when I go to scan, after about 86%, it gives me a list of files that it couldn't process. Somehow this leaves me with about 3/4 of my music unable to be added to the collection. I checked the files and they do have the proper permissions, just like every other file in these folders.

- Compiling Amarok from source - from Fugitive Thought by Steve
Compiling amaroK from its source code is a tedious process. However, that is not to say that doing so is a bad idea. Indeed, a direct-from-source compile is necessary when your distribution lacks a package management system, has infrequently updated packages, or simply offers a package that does not suit your needs. Additionally, if you prefer gnome, xfce, enlightenment, fluxbox, or some other window manager and thereby do not use kde, getting amaroK functioning can be quite difficult. Indeed, I prefer the xfce or fluxbox window managers. Nevertheless, I endeavored to try out amaroK, and once I did, I must say I was quite impressed.

- Disable Touchpad Temporarily When Typing « Ubuntu Blog
Recently, I faced a different problem. When typing on the new laptop that I got, my thumb often accidentally brushes the touchpad, and this leads to me continuing to type things in entirely a different place. This is because the thumb moves the mouse pointer to a different spot that where the typing cursor is, and then there is an accidental click. Argh! very annoying.

- Problem playing media off of samba share - Ubuntu Forums
I'm trying to connect to my file-server (Samba share) and play some media-files on it through Totem and Rythmbox. I can open and browse the share just fine in Nautilus (through gnome-vfs), but when I try to play a file directly off the server, Totem/Rythmbox just complains that it "Could not read resource". If I copy the file locally and play it, everything's fine and dandy.

- Problems with Samba share with cifs and smbfs - Ubuntu Forums
I have Ubuntu 6.06 installed on my Acer 1682WLMI laptop. My LAN includes a server machine running FC4, with several shares mounted with Samba. Yesterday, I upgraded the packages on the FC4 machine, and these included Samba, which is now at 3.0.23a. Unfortunately, this seems to have broken my mounted shares, which is annoying as I'd only just got them working a couple of days ago.

- Samba - Amarok Wiki
Using Samba shares with Amarok. You have your music files on a remote computer, and you share these files via samba/windows file sharing. The shared files may be read only or writeable by you, and you have them mounted on your local filesystem. You can access the files just fine there and play them, but they cannot be added to the collection. Adding silently fails, is very slow, or music gets added but cannot be played.

- Video playback problems in firefox - Ubuntu Forums
I can't seem to play any type of embedded video in Firefox anymore. Example: if I try to play a video through BBC News Player, MPlayer plug-in begins buffering the video and then stops without playing anything. Same behaviour appears when attempting to playback any type of embedded video in Firefox. The behaviour doesn't appear to be type or site specific. This didn't always happen. I first noticed the behaviour after I removed totem-xine and replaced it with totem-gstreamer. (I did this because totem-xine wouldn't playback video smoothly from a shared networked drive, but totem-gstreamer would.)
