  • Redirect Old Slugs - Wordpress plugin
    If you are using “fancy permalinks” in WordPress, part of that permalink will be a “slug,” an all-lowercase dashed version of your post title… like this-is-a-slug. This becomes part of your permalink… and so it cannot change. But what if you decide you want to change it? What if you made a spelling error in your title, and don’t want the permalink’s slug to remain misspelled for all of eternity? You could either just change the slug, and have old links to the post break, or you could go through the trouble of setting up an Apache redirect for the old link to the new one.

  • Rojolicious
    Rojolicious accepts a del.icio.us username and generates a greasemonkey script that rewrites the on-click event of the "Share" button on Rojo's share pages (pages that match the url pattern http://*.rojo.com/share/* ). Then, when that button is clicked not only will the story you're looking at be shared in Rojo, but it will also be posted to your del.icio.us account in a new window.

  • Roland Tanglao's Weblog: Flock rocks (or Chris Messina is a demo god)!
    At OSCON 2005, I was lucky enough to get a demo of Flock, the new "social web browser" based on Firefox, from Chris Messina, Flock CSS and design guru, at their launch party. I was blown away! Drag and drop blogging - drag text from a blog post and it automatically creates a cite tag with a link to the original post and the quoted text is indented using a blockquote tag. Drag and drop Flickr photos (I do this painfully every day for Urban Vancouver e.g. check out today's East 12th and Commercial photo). And Chris teased me with some more future features like having del.icio.us as your bookmarks (goodbye to useless local bookmarks).

    The "Roswell Incident" refers to an event that supposedly happened in July, 1947, wherein the Army Air Forces (AAF) allegedly recovered remains of a crashed "flying disc" near Roswell, New Mexico. In February, 1994, the General Accounting Office (GAO), acting on the request of a New Mexico Congressman, initiated an audit to attempt to locate records of such an incident and to determine if records regarding it were properly handled. Although the GAO effort was to look at a number of government agencies, the apparent focus was on the Air Force. SAF/AAZ , as the Central Point of Contact for the GAO in this matter, initiated a systematic search of current Air Force offices as well as numerous archives and records centers that might help explain this matter.     To read RSS feeds on my Sony Ericsson M600 I use RSS2Mail services on the net. I don't like the built-in RSS reader in the phone. I blog with the phone, so I want to be able to edit, copy and move the RSS posts, and you can't do that in the built-in RSS reader.

  • Scraper Site Clearout Collateral Damage?
    It seems like google has purged many scraper sites from the google serps, as per this thread: http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum30/30530-2-10.htm I'm sure many people, including myself are very, very pleased about this as it stops scumbag sites from stealing our content. However, it also appears that some non-scraper sites have been included in this purge (including my own). My site has been active for 5 years and is based on unique content. Has anyone else been effected by this, and does google intend to refine the algorithm to stop valid, unique content sites from falling victim?
