- Big Questions - NASA Science: Structure & Evolution of the Universe
Big Questions NASA has defined a set of space and Earth Science questions that can best be addressed using the Agency’s unique capabilities. NASA works with the broader scientific community, considers national initiatives, and the results of decade-long surveys by the National Research Council in defining these questions. See also the Science Strategy section for more information about how NASA Science is pursuing these questions.

- Genes to Cognition Online
Neuroscience research has progressed rapidly in the last few decades and techniques at every level of analysis have become increasingly powerful. With this power comes huge responsibility, and ethics in neuroscience concerns its appropriate use. It relates to subjects such as cognitive enhancement, medication, privacy, and morality. Genetic testing is one area of research that carries significant ethical ramifications. Professor Kay Jamison discusses these issues in The Value of Diversity. Another issue that has attracted recent controversy is medication, specifically over-medication. Professor Tom Insel tackles this topic in Under-Medication and Over-Medication. Stem cell research has also generated recent ethical controversy, both as a technique and instr

- Prehistoric Whale Ate Other Whales For Breakfast : NPR
Rarely do scientists get to publish a research paper that begins with the words "The Giant Bite." On Wednesday, fossil hunters from Europe did just that. They've discovered one of the biggest predators that ever lived: a whale — one that devoured other whales and probably anything else it had an appetite for. The scientists call the creature Leviathan melvillei. "Leviathan" means sea monster, and "melvillei" refers, of course, to Herman Melville, who wrote the greatest of whale stories, Moby-Dick. Paleontologist Olivier Lambert says he's read that book — several times.

- SURVEY OF CLIENTS OF FOOD PANTRIES IN KENOSHA COUNTY
Undergraduate Research Conference, UW-Parkside
We have conducted research for the Kenosha County Hunger Prevention Council to understand the experiences of clients of food pantries in Kenosha County and their level of food insecurity in Kenosha County. UW-Parkside students administered over 200 one-on-one surveys in English and Spanish to a random sample of food pantry clients, and that data has been entered into SPSS. The analysis identifies at-risk groups, information about the nutrition level of households, the intensity of hunger among clients of food pantries in Kenosha County. We identified barriers and evaluated individual sites. Of people in Kenosha County who visit food pantries, nearly twenty five percent (24.3%) do not have a high school diplo...
