- Greenfleet - Our Program
Climate change and global warming are among today's most pressing environmental issues, brought about by increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Transport is Australia's fastest growing source of greenhouse gas emissions. Greenfleet is a non-profit organisation. Our program provides a simple way to reduce your car's impact on the environment. For $40 (tax deductible), Greenfleet will plant 17 native trees on your behalf. These trees will help to create a forest, and as they grow will absorb the greenhouse gases that your car produces in one year (based on 4.3 tonnes of CO2 for the average car*).
Greenfleet is a registered environmental charity working to reduce pollution and climate change. Avoid, reduce and finally offset greenhouse gas pollution from your car, gas, electricity and flights.

Note: Science shows that 17 mixed species trees will not only absorb a car's greenhouse emissions, but will also help to tackle salinity, improve water quality and provide essential habitat for native species.
Since 1997, Greenfleet has planted more than 2 million trees on behalf of Australian motorist ...mores and fleets. These forests will not be harvested and will create an investment in rural Australia for future generations.

- High and dry by Guy Pearse - Readings Books
Australia is feeling the sharpest of climate change's cutting edges – water shortage is chronic and irreversible, temperatures are rising, and species are dying on land and at sea. And yet our government has been one of the world's most recalcitrant in the use and trade of carbon fuels. Why has the Howard government so conspicuously sabotaged the national interest? In this damning insider's account, Guy Pearse tells us how and why current government policy is to increase carbon emissions rather than reduce them. The Weather Makers gave us the science of climate change; High and Dry gives us the politics and economics. It is a devastating indictment of how the coal industry boardroom dominates the Howard government cabinet room.

- ReadyMade: How to Make [Almost] Everything: A Do-It-Yourself Primer (Hardcover)
A partly serious, partly humorous look at materials we usually discard, the work provides step-by-step instructions on how to transform paper, plastic, metal, wood, concrete and fabric into such unlikely (and undesirable) household items as a chopstick clock or a colander light sconce. Berger and Hawthorne (the editor-in-chief and publisher, respectively, of ReadyMade magazine). Each section begins with a history of the "raw" material, designed to make readers more aware of the environment and the uses of these materials. In addition to proposing new uses for Fed Ex boxes (a CD rack) and plastic detergent containers (an "ultraclean coatrack"), also offer how-to advice, both silly (how to write a love note) and useful (how to self-publish).
