- VIRTUAL GENETICS LAB
The Virtual Genetics Lab (VGL) is a simulation of transmission genetics that approximates, as closely as possible, the hypothesis-testing environment of genetics research. In this lab, students cross hypothetical creatures and examine the progeny in order to determine the mechanism of inheritance of a particular trait. As in actual research, it is not possible to 'see the answer' - the student must decide for herself when she has collected enough data to be sure of her model. The goal is to have students understand the logic of genetic analysis - how one can use crosses to determine how a trait is inherited and reinforce their understanding of transmission genetics. - virtual toolbox for mental health in schools
This online toolbox compiles various brief resources developed by the national Center for Mental Health in Schools at UCLA. While it is intended as an adjunct to the book Mental Health in Schools: Engaging Learners, Preventing Problems, and Improving Schools (Corwin Press, 2010), the contents of the toolbox should be useful to any school practitioner and those involved in pre-and inservice professional development programs. The toolbox reflects a broad view of mental health in schools and of the role mental health plays in the well-being of students, their families, and their teachers. Also stressed is the value of embedding mental health into a comprehensive classroom and school-wide system for addressing barriers to learning and teaching and re-engaging d

- Water Action Volunteers Citizen Stream Monitoring
Citizens’ groups from throughout Wisconsin are using Water Action Volunteers' sampling protocols to monitor the health oftheir hometown streams and rivers. They monitor dissolved oxygen, temperature, transparency, flow, habitat, and macroinvertebratesbetween April and October. There are several program goals: 1) Wisconsin citizens will monitor stream and river health. to support data sharing for educational purposes. 2. Provide a network for volunteer groups, individuals, and schools to interact. 3. Provide support for civic conservation and environmental groups. 4. Help increase linkages between volunteer monitoring efforts and public resources protection programs.

- WebQuest: Our Country's Dominance in Question: created with Zunal WebQuest Maker 1
This WebQuest was designed to allow students to become more familiar with the metric system of measurement and to realize that a political battle is being waged over the measuring system we use. Depending on the number of students in your classroom and the amount of groups you like to have, you can either add temperature to choose from, or just allow groups to double up on selections. Also, you can have two groups select the same measurement and take opposing sides, one for the metric system and one against, so the students can have their own debate on the subject. I would recommend the students giving their own opinion, especially if it differs from the position they defended.
