  While Melbourne is bursting with an ever-expanding range of excellent dining options, sadly the dessert list is often neglected in favour of more intricate savoury courses. The battle of sweet versus savoury is fought across the restaurant scene, with poor old sweet inevitably coming out the loser. Thankfully, Hot Chocolate aims to rectify this almost universal inadequacy, with a dessert-only menu of sticky treats for chocolate fiends and sugar lovers. Docklands diners can conclude a stroll along the promenade with one of the house-made ice creams, a steaming chocolate pudding, giant profiterole or a caramel tart with dark chocolate and blood orange sorbet. As the name implies, the signature sweets are the hot chocolates.

• Shrine to Spirits - Polmos Old Krupnik Honey Vodka
  We liked this one a lot. A good vodka, a good honey liqueur. Sweet, as you would expect, so it might be too much for some people. You might also want to try the sweeter, less herby Lithuanian honey vodka, Krupnikas. Compared with the Scotch-based honey liqueurs (like Drambuie and Glayva), the vodka base allows the honey and herb to be completely in the forefront.

  There are many good liqueurs out there. This one is our favourite. Perhaps this is just from a childhood fondness for Jaffas. Anyway, we feel the chocolate/orange combination this has is very well balanced, and very nice. An excellent sipping liqueur to serve after dinner. What we said about it: Sabra Chocolate Orange Liqueur: From Israel, this is like liquid Jaffas. Very tasty and smooth. Not too sweet or too strong, so drink it straight. 30% alcohol.
