• Central Eurasia Project
  The Central Eurasia Project (CEP) provides information about human rights and the social and economic health of the South Caucasus and Central Asia. Some of its projects focus on the neighboring countries of Afghanistan and Pakistan as well. CEP uses grantmaking to international and indigenous NGOs to help build local capacity, bring international expertise to bear on the region, and promote cooperation between local activists and international civic movements in the fields of human rights, the environment, and transparent governance. Its ultimate goal is to strengthen civic leaders in the region and construct support networks within international structures and movements

• Decade for Roma Inclusion - The Roma Women's Initiative
  Since 1999, the Roma Women's Initiative, a project of the Network Women's Program of the Open Society Institute, promotes the human rights of Roma women by empowering Roma women activists in Central and Eastern Europe. • EU Monitoring and Advocacy Program (EUMAP)
  EUMAP monitors the development of selected human rights and rule of law issues in both the European Union and in its candidate and potential candidate countries. The program works with national experts and nongovernmental organizations to compile reports that are distributed widely throughout Europe and internationally. EUMAP is currently focusing on the issues of access to education and employment for people with intellectual disabilities, and TV Across Europe: regulation, policy, and independence in 21 European countries. • Human Rights & Governance Grants Program
  The Program provides support to nongovernmental organizations operating in the fields of human rights and governance in Europe and Central Asia. The program assists supported organizations in their growth and institutionalization; in building networks among these groups; and in developing partnerships with other donors in this field. In the area of human rights, the program supports national and international advocacy organizations promoting political and civil rights at local, national and regional levels. • Local Government & Public Service Reform Initiative
  The Initiative promotes effective democratic government in Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, and Mongolia. It focuses on supporting local government and public administration reform and decentralization; improving the administration of public services; assisting in the formulation of public policy; and developing a comprehensive regional policy center. In cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), LGI provides technical assistance on designing decentralization reform strategies in Central Asia and has contributed to the redesign of local government legislation in Macedonia and Croatia

• Middle East & North Africa Initiative
  Middle East & North Africa Initiative (MENA) acts as the primary contact point for OSI activity in the region. Its overall approach is to assist in assembling a network dedicated to open society issues such as transparency, rule of law, accountability, minority rights, strengthening and empowering civil society, empowerment of women, addressing the knowledge deficit, and fostering and supporting independent media. MENA supports a number of scholarships in law and other disciplines such as culture and the arts, as a means of fostering freedom of expression and critical thinking.   The Network Women's Program (NWP) works to promote the advancement of women's human rights, gender equality, and empowerment as an integral part of the process of democratization.
