In April this year, 2007, I did a trip to Nepal to look for interesting products for our "Lanna Charm" website. After spending 10 days sightseeing and shopping around Kathmandu,and a few days trekking, I booked an overland trip to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. I had always wanted to do this trip, and I still rate it the best one I have done so far. Words cannot describe the scenery, and even the best photos don't do it justice. When I left Kathmandu I traveled by vehicle, (a 7 seater van), to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. The only way to gain entry to Tibet was to be part of a tour group, and have the correct paperwork, (group visa). I just returned from a quick trip to India, looking at handwoven products for our "Lanna Charm" website, and one of the places we visited was Agra, home of the famous "Taj Mahal". Finally, I would get to see one of the eight wonders of the world. It is an amazing structure, many say the most beautiful marble creation on Earth. Built by Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan, in memory of his Queen, Arjumand Bano Begum, who died in 1631 giving birth to her 14th child ! According to one of the marble plaques in the grounds, "it is variously admired as a materialised vision of loveliness, a dream of marble, a noble tribute to the grace of Indian womanhood, and a resplendent immortal teardrop on the cheek of time." I think that says it all....
