Technology makes it easy for teens to stay connected at all times, but sometimes the pressure of always "being on" can be too much. The "Face the Music" eLearning Kit© engages 10th-12th grade students in activities that promote mental health awareness and overall well-being. Activity topics include managing stress, bullying, maintaining healthy relationships, online safety and making healthy decisions.

- Lesson Plan | Will It Happen Again? Examining Mass Extinctions on Earth
Overview | What is a mass extinction, and why do some scientists think human beings may be responsible for the next one? What do we know about the past extinctions, including their likely causes? In this lesson, students learn about mass extinctions, map extinction events to a geologic timeline, and explore current ideas about whether human influences may lead to another major extinction event.

- Let’s Talk About It: Discussing the Science and Politics of Global Warming
Overview | What have you heard about global warming in the news lately? Is the scientific evidence for global warming in question? Are politicians and world leaders doing enough to curb carbon emissions? What does this winter’s unusually cold and snowy weather have to do, if anything, with global warming? In is lesson, students hold a mock talk show on issues related to the science and politics of global warming.

- Losing Louisiana / Science News
Residents of Louisiana, take note: If engineers don’t divert sediment-rich waters from the Mississippi River to help replenish a sinking river delta, about 10 percent of your state will slip beneath the waves by the end of this century. However, even if the engineers do try to abate the subsidence, the Mississippi doesn’t carry enough sediment to offset more than a small fraction of that loss, a new analysis suggests.

- Magnet Man - Cool Experiments with Magnets
This web site is devoted to magnetism and the cool experiments you can do with permanent magnets and electro-magnets. Some of the experiments are very basic - things you've done since second grade. Others are unique; perhaps you hadn't thought of doing some of these before, or had difficulty in trying to set them up. Lists of the materials needed for the demonstrations, directions on how to assemble them, instructions on how to show them, and notes on how they work are all here for you. Also shown are several cool magnetic toys you can buy. Of course, there are also links to useful sites, sources and books on magnets.
Experiments with magnets and electromagnets which can be built and demonstrated; for elementary school through high school classrooms. Can also be a starting point for science fair projects.

- Math Skills - Manipulation of Exponents
Scientific calculations are frequently handled by expressing quantities in scientific notation. Such operations require simple manipulation of exponents, usually exponents of 10. When the same base is used (e.g. 10), the following rules apply: When the operation involves multiplication, add the exponents algebrically.
