Someone had crossed that out and spray painted "Sur 13," an affiliate of MS-13, or Mara Salvatrucha, another violent gang that makes Davis's job as District 1 commander of the Prince George's County police that much more difficult. - Pace of homicides hasn’t slowed much in Prince George’s (f)
Four people were fatally shot in Prince George’s County between May 23 and Monday, raising the number of homicides this year to 63. There were 47 homicides at the same time last year. Though overall violent crime is falling in 2007 and the rate of homicides has slowed slightly since March, when there were 11 killings in 11 days, violence continues to strike in communities from District Heights to typically quiet Old Town Bowie. Three shootings in the past two years outside J's Sports Café in Laurel has residents asking the Prince George's County Board of License Commissioners to deny renewal of the restaurant and nightclub's liquor license. The club's current liquor license expires May 31. Residents are gathering signatures on a petition to protest the license renewal and have until March 1 to file the protest with the license board.
