This is the knife owned by George Washington, who loaned it to John Schneider to make a fire during the planning stages of the Battle of Trenton. This is the internet homepage of the recreated CLayton's Company and contains a regimental history of the 17th from its creation in 1687 through 1784, documentary extracts from primary sources relating to the regiment, and information about the recreated Clayton's Company. Clayton's Company is based in Providence, Rhode Island, with members in Connecticut and Virginia and portrays a battalion company of the regiment as it appeared throughout the war. Our primary focus is on commemorating the service of the officers and men of the 17th Regiment by accurately portraying that unit in appearance and discipline.
