Last week Spyker Squadron, the factory racing team of Spyker Cars, organised its second three-day test. The test was held in good conditions at the track of Valencia near the Mediterranean coast in Spain. Swiss Spyker Cars dealer, Speedy Garage based in Romanel-sur-Lausanne, jointly tested with Spyker Squadron. Speedy Garage will enter a factory backed C8 Spyder GT2R under the banner Speedy Racing Team in the Le Mans Series.

The guys who run Nihon Car were able to get seat time in Subaru's latest limited-edition street-legal rally car, the Impreza WRX STI Type RA-R. Only 300 of the backroads bombers are being produced, and they're only being sold in Japan. Fortunately, the boys at Nihon are there to bring the goods to us Western folk via the Internet.

Toyota has launched its new Yaris variant in Europe the Toyota Yaris SR, a performance version of the popular compact car. The Toyota Yaris SR is powered by a 1.8 liter petrol engine with Dual VVT-i technology that produces 131 horsepower. For more performance from this little car Toyota gave it a sports-tuned steering and suspension along with a a striking body kit and 17-inch alloy wheels to make the design more aggressive.

To go up against Mercedes E63 AMG and BMWs M5, Audi is planning to offer the hot RS6. Priddy’s ninjas caught it here, at the Nrburgring, while it was undergoing some late prototype testing this week. The larger air intakes in the front bumper and the wider fenders and diffuser at the rear, are the key clues as to the true identity of this Audi. And while the S models have four round exhaust pipes, the RS models will receive oval pipes as their distinguishing feature.

Finally, the Volkswagen Phaeton is going to get its first major overhaul since its debut in 2002.. The 2010 Volkswagen Phaeton is reported to lose some weight, become a bit smaller and a little more agile than its predecessor. Finally some information surfaced for the new Alpina B3 twin-turbo. And it promises to be good! The car that will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show is based on the already very fast BMW twin-turbo 335i coupe. Its 3.0L straight-six engine will develop in Alpine’s variant close to 360hp and 500Nm of torque, 60hp more and 100 Nm over the standard E 92 335i. This model will be the hottest version derived from the BMW 3-series coupe until the M3 will arrive.

- Ford Shelby GT H Convertible
Lightning has struck again, the Ford Shelby GT-H "Rent-A-Racer" program from Ford Motor Company, Shelby Automobiles and The Hertz Corporation has returned with a special run of convertible versions of the performance-modified Ford Mustang GTs for rent exclusively through Hertz. Unveiled and sold for $250,000 on the block at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in West Palm Beach, Fla., the companies announced that approximately 500 convertibles, a first for the GT-H program, will be available through the Hertz Fun Collection at select airport locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, and Hawaii, later this year. Proceeds of the sale will benefit the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation.
