The SEO Playground tool was first released sometime ago, but never given the exposure it deserved. I am therefore just writing a brief post covering its features and detailing how to install it.

Dataopedia.com - All you need to know about a website

Every time you want to know all the data about a certain website just type in your browser dataopedia.com/website.com and you´ll be taken directly to the right information page. It also works for country domains, for example dataopedia.com/website.co.uk Install this API in your site (javascript) and your users will be able to see all websites mentioned underlined. Every time the user mouses over, a graphic will appear with customizable information about that website. If the users click on the graphic, they will be redirected in a new tab or window to the website's informational page in dataopedia.com.

Here's a Copy Title bookmarklet that puts the page title in a box that you can copy to your clipboard. Copying the title of the current page can be useful, e.g., pasting the title of a bug-tracker page into your version-control system, etc. I'm using it to paste JIRA bug titles into Subversion log messages.

Recently Flickr introduced canonical short URLs for all photos hosted by the site. If you look at the source code for a Flickr photo page, you will see a new link element that looks similar to this: As I write this, there doesn’t seem to be a way to retrieve this URL through the page itself, so I wrote a bookmarklet that would pull the canonical short URL from DOM tree. I’ve tested the bookmarklet in Firefox and Safari.
