Aardvark Firefox Extension

Once you have installed Aardvark as an extension (as opposed to running the demo), start it by right-clicking on the page and choosing "Start Aardvark" from the menu. The extension will run until you leave, refresh, or stop it by pressing “Q” for quit.

Here's another Mozilla/Firefox tip: if you copy a URL wrapped over multiple lines from somewhere and try to paste it into the address bar, you will end up only with the first line of it. To fix it, go to about:config and change editor.singleLine.pasteNewlines setting to 3 or add: user_pref("editor.singleLine.pasteNewlines", 3); to your user.js file. Now all the line breaks will be removed upon pasting.

There has been a lot of discussion about backing up Firefox extensions, preferences, bookmarks etc. A promising tool, MozBackup, was unfortunately discontinued. On top of all that, yesterday, after my main HDD fainted (power cable got disconnected), my firefox profile got corrupt. I had no chance but to write a tool to backup/restore my profile.

Shortcuts defined via a can be changed but only changing those which itself call a function (those with a command or oncommand attribute) has an effect (all others fulfill only cosmetic purposes it seems and are grayed out). The configuration screen can be accessed via Tools->Keyconfig... or accel+shift+F12 on all supported windows. Currently there is only one list of modified keys per application, so changing a shortcut in one window will also affect keys in other windows if they use the same key name.

I develop and build optimized versions of certain Mozilla applications, specifically the Mozilla Firefox browser, the Mozilla Thunderbird email client, and the Mozilla Suite. My builds are designed for the Windows OS platform(s) and provide enhanced security, stability, and speed. For example, with the Firefox browser, I have found a noticable increase in browsing speed when compared to the official Firefox builds, as evidenced by this analysis. BookmarksHome makes a pretty startup page out of your bookmarks. The layout of this page is highly customizable. Items high in the bookmarks tree (as you see it when you open the Bookmarks menu) will appear at the top of the page. Changes in your bookmarks will be visible after reloading the BookmarksHome page. Take a look at the screenshots to see what BookmarksHome is about. If you have created your own stylesheet, you can post it here. A brief explanation and some stylesheets can be found here. Of course, any kind of comment or suggestion is welcome.
