This is a set of 17 interactive notebooks that have been used in an introductory workshop on Mathematica for physicists and oriented toward the notebook front end on the Macintosh and NeXTStep platforms. The example notebooks are structured around a sequence of simple physics problems that require various Mathematica skills to solve. Two different workshop approaches have been used: (1) the participants have gone through the notebooks together as a group, with continual discussion lead by the instructor, and (2) the participants have worked individually, with the instructor circulating about to respond to individual questions.

This revised and updated book is intended for undergraduates, graduate students, and practicing physicists who want to learn new Mathematica techniques for solving a general class of physics problems. The experimental activities included are designed to deepen and broaden the reader's understanding of physics. The book assumes some familiarity with Mathematica, but the focus is on physics rather than on rudimentary Mathematica techniques.
