Why didn't AOL do more with the social networking desire they were creating before having to buy Bebo for $850 million? AIM is the Atari of Social Networking. Period. I remember creating my first AIM account from my mother's computer while in highschool. Browsing around other screen names and finding new friends, friends of friends, and getting to know someone while tricking your parents into thinking that you are doing homework were definitely the good 'ol days. (Although it would have been nice to pull that stunt in gradeschool like this generation!)

LinkedIn is a relatively “closed” social network – “closed” in that you have to be somewhat active to get the most out of the network. While it is possible to see someone’s online resume without being logged in, Linked in is most useful when you see his or her connections and references. So how can you make LinkedIn more productive for yourself? Read on my friends.

What is a Maven? The wikipedia describes a Maven as “a trusted expert in a particular field, who seeks to pass knowledge on to others.” Although Mavens do a good job of persuading people, their primary goal is not to persuade their audience but rather educate and help their audience.

Ever wonder what’s in an online poll? Everyday millions of online polls tell me everything I need to know about myself – what kind of car I should buy, what Disney character I’m most like, and what my internet age is > http://www1.orange.co.uk/internetage/, but what’s really the purpose of all of this? If used correctly, online polls can collect valuable information from your website’s users, as well as recruit some of their friends. ;)
