The Blobz Guide to Electric Circuits

The site is a very visually, helpful tutorial that has a lot of interactive activities as well as simulations shown throughout the site for the students to learn about how circuits function. The site has a lot of helpful tools, such as pop up windows for any instructions or words that may be unclear are further explained, and there are quizzes at the end of each section to help assess, and bonus activites for those students who may excel in understanding the topic. I rate the site a 10 out of 10 I found it very useful, and kid-friendly, especially for my ELL learners. Site submitted by Catherine Jung

This websites helps students to learn about simple and compound machines. The students are put into different settings where they need to identify the simple or compound machines. After they find the simple/compound machines the student needs to decide what that machine does and then the computer will explain the simple and how it works. It is a fun and interactive way for students to learn about simple and compound machines. Rec. by Kelly Peterson

The enormous appeal of the Winter Olympic Games creates several teachable moments for showing how science illuminates human activity. This module teaches sports of luge and figure skating to teach four basic mechanical concepts: linear kinematics, linear dynamics, projectile motion, and conservation of angular momentum. In addition, we have developed a glossary which defines and illustrates all the physics terminology you will need to complete this module.

The site provides tutoring in physics through multiple resources: a "Collection of Previously Asked Questions and Their Answers", Useful References, such as: units, tables, relevant formulas, basic equations, graphs, pictures, online practice exercises, Mechanics Links, and the option to e-mail questions to a Tutor/Instructor) This site has a lot of "white space", unlike many such sites with a lot of text in a small amount of space. This feature along with the clear illustrations will be beneficial to ELLs. Rec. by Jay Smith
