I just finished an essay on Remix culture - but gasp, not Lev Manovich style - African American, Middle Eastern, Japanese, etc etc I'm really interested in how these aesthetics are translating out of the non-industrialized world from the viewpoint of the way war and information have turned the whole "digital divide" issue inside out. The essay below focuses on sound and its relationship to a post-geographic discourse of digital networks. The "Remix" represented here is taken from the media landscape, and used as a reflection of the information flowing through the fiber optic cables, satellite frequencies, and economics holding it all together.
