The UPDV Bible is based on the American Standard Version of 1901 (ASV). The ASV was used as the starting point for this Bible. However, a significant amount of new research is now available regarding ancient manuscripts (such as the Dead Sea Scrolls) and word meanings. This has been integrated into the UPDV Bible to improve accuracy. For this reason, the following authoritative texts were used for further refinement of the translation: Old Testament: Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia; United Bible Societies' Preliminary and Interim Report on the Hebrew Old Testament Text Project; and the final report in Critique Textuelle De L'Ancien Testament. New Testament (Greek): United Bible Societies--The Greek New Testament, Fourth Edition; and Nestle-Aland--

These are the books of the Jewish Publication Society's 1917 edition, corrected with the Divine Name restored. Instead of "Lord" (Adonai), the form "Yahweh" is used. These books are based on the corrected version of the Karaite edition.

Trans. Frank Daniels (ca. 1995-2000). Uses "Yahweh". "The translation largely follows the 26th/27th edition of the Greek New Testament, called the Nestle-Aland text, although in some books, particular manuscripts (usually the oldest or most reliable) have been given a greater weight. The recent analysis by Young Kyu Kim (Biblica 69, 1988) which redates manuscript p46 to the late first century has not escaped attention. A comparison has been made to any or all of the following translations: KJV, RV 1881, ASV, RSV, Emphatic Diaglott, Original New Testament (by Schonfield), NASB, NAB, and NIV, with more comparisons being made in more difficult sections of the text. It is this translator's effort to provide a translation as free of tradition as possible,"
